Frequently Asked Questions

What are the primary therapeutic services you offer?

Services offered include traditional talk therapy, both virtually and in-person at my office. I also offer a more active and experiential form of nature-based psychotherapy, nature immersion walk and talks, both individually and in groups. This type of session can look like anything from sitting on a park bench to hiking in the forest. Please contact me for further information.

What mental health issues do you specialize in?

While I work with adults of all ages, my primary focus is in the treatment of adolescents and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and adjustment disorders. In addition, my work with nature can assist with grief and bereavement, as well as PTSD symptoms, and those seeking to reduce their levels of stress. I primarily follow attachment theory, attempting to get to the root (or system of roots) that cause the distress clients are seeking relief from, but evidenced based practices like CBT are also used to help manage more immediate symptoms. I also borrow from mindfulness practices as we collaborate with each other, and nature, toward a more profound acceptance of ourselves.

What is nature-informed therapy?

Nature-informed therapy is an experiential process where the therapist guides the client through traditional talk therapy, utilizing evidenced-based, therapeutic interventions while introducing the healing benefits of nature. Sessions can look different depending on your needs, goals, and abilities. They can vary from meditations focused on nature while sitting in the office, to sitting in a park talking. You can be walking on a trail at a gentle pace for the session or there can be more immersive experiences involving the natural environment. Reach out if you want to learn more.

What should I expect during my first session?

Don't worry, we are not going on a long hike in our initial session. We will first discuss your personal history and reasons for treatment, set goals, assess your individual needs and collaborate in order to form the best plan for you. In addition, you will agree to and sign the necessary intake/consent forms so that we can begin the process of change.

What is the cancellation policy?

In order to maintain consistency and respect for each other's time, at least 24 hours notice is required if you need to cancel your scheduled appointment. If a scheduled appointment is not canceled with at least 24 hours notice, the full session fee will be charged to your account. This includes no-shows.
